Top 5 Players to Watch in FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022

Top 5 players to watch in FIFA Qatar World Cup 2022

  1. Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Messi has won everything in his decorated career. La Liga, Champions League, Ballon d’Or, FIFA The Best, UEFA Player of the year, he won it all.

The Copa America’s victory back in 2021 did justice, as it fulfilled Messi’s missing trophy that he had been fighting for his whole career. But the World Cup is a different story, a different level of achievement, and it could be reflected through how the Argentina’s national team captain has fought to win a spot at Qatar.

At the age of 34, the 6-time Ballon d’Or winner will have his last chance to shine, to lead La Albiceleste at such a big stage. That’s why all eyes will be on Messi this Summer.

  1. Neymar (Brazil)

Despite all the trophies he’s won, International’s ones keep running from Neymar, whether it’s Copa America or the World Cup. Just last year, Neymar lost to his former teammate, Lionel Messi, in the final of South America’s biggest competition.

Prior to this year’s World Cup, the furthest Neymar and his co could ever reach, was the Semi-final of the 2014 version. 8 years ago in Brazil, Neymar almost lost his career, due to an injury that cost him the game against Germany.

Alongside with Neymar, is one of the best sides of Selecao which was the first South American side to qualify for the World Cup 2022 Final set in Qatar. Neymar will bring, again, the ‘Perfect Chaos’ to the biggest stage of Football.

  1. Kylian Mbappe (France)

The 2018 version of the FIFA World Cup was one of Mbappe’s finest acts, despite being one the youngest players back then, at the age of 20.

The French striker scored one fine goal in the final helping his team beat Croatia, to bring back the 18-karat solid gold trophy back to France for the first time since 1998, the year he was born.

4 years later, Mbappe is only getting better and better, aiming higher to defend the title. As the age of Ronaldo and Messi is about to be gone, helping Les Bleus win World Cup 2022 will surely earn Mbappe Ballon d’Or this year.

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Now reaching his final years of career, Cr7 has nothing else to prove, as he conquered almost them all, per clubs or per individual.

The Portuguese captain won the UEFA Euro back in 2016, but the World Cup has never been sweet to him. Even during his peak, the former Real Madrid striker never went further than the round of 16 in the World Cup’s history.

At 36, Ronaldo is still banging goals for Manchester United in the Premier League and will still be one of the biggest threats of his opponents. However, Ronaldo and co must play at the Play-off before earning a place at Qatar this Summer.

  1. Harry Kane (England)

The leader, the prolific striker and the trusted skipper of England, Harry Kane is definitely one to watch at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

With 48 goals in hands, Kane can totally crush it to be Three Lion’s all-time scorer right at this World Cup. Tottenham’s striker has 5 goals less than Wayne Rooney (53), and only needs one more to sit in the same place with Sir Bobby Charlton (49).

Besides, World Cup 2022 is the chance for Kane and the England national team to redeem themselves, after the defeat at Euro 2021 against Italy in the final.

“It’s coming home” this time for Kane and his co? It may very much depend on Kane’s performance this Summer.
